Invited Talk: Dean Diana Hicks, School of Public Policy, Georgia Institute of Technology

  March 27, 2012, at 3:00 pm, Diana Hicks, professor of the School of Public Policy, Georgia Institute of Technology, gave a lecture entitled “A review of the performance based university research funding systems” at Conference Room 418 of the Main Building. More than 30 SME teachers and students attend the lecture.

 

  Prof. Hicks pointed out that in recent years, the university research environment in the world has undergone profound changes. Performance-based research funding systems (PRFSs) is one of the important innovations among the changes. He gave detailed discussions on how to utilize PRESs to enhance the research policy and innovation system, how to construct connection between the PRFSs and public administration and public performance assessment system. In addition, Professor Hicks profoundly elaborated the intrinsic relationship between the PRFS and the university research environment, general economic and social evaluation index system.

  Diana Hicks, professor, Dean of the School of Public Policy, Georgia Institute of Technology, an honorary member of the University of Sussex Science Policy Research Center, Washington “Science, Policy and Output” Academic Research Advisory Board member. Professor Hicks is committed to research in the field of science and technology policy, and current research work focus on social sciences and human sciences bibliometrics research, strong interest in taping scientific and technological innovation through the massive database of patents and scientific literature.
