January 19, 2013, the school held a part-time professor appointment ceremony. Liu Yanhua, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Techonolgy and the State Council Counselor, was appointed a part-time professor. Party Secretary Professor Guo Dacheng attended the ceremony, and Vice President Professor Zhao Changlu hosted the appointment ceremony.
Professor Liu Yanhua thanked the school for the appointment and said he would contribute his efforts to the development and disciplines construction of Beijing Institute of Technology.
