Professor Li Jingshan, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Visits

  The morning of July 20, 2016, professor Li Jingshan from the University of Wisconsin Madison Department of industrial and systems engineering was invited to visit our school and gave an academic report entitled "From Manufacturing to Healthcare: Similarities, Difficulties and Opportunities". The School of economics and management Professor Wang Jiancai, Cui Lirong and more than 20 doctoral and  graduate students participated in the meeting. The report was hosted by Professor Ran Lun.

  Manufacturing industry and health care industry play a very important role in the development of economy and society. In recent years, medical and healthcare problems have aroused wide attention at home and abroad, which has attracted great interest of scholars - devoted to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of medical service, and provide better therapeutic effect for patients.

  In the lecture, Professor Li Jingshan introduced how to apply the research experience, methods and ideas of the production system to the research of the medical system.

Speaker Profile:

  Dr. Jingshan Li received the BS from Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, the MS from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, and PhD in Electrical Engineering – Systems, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI in 1989, 1992 and 2000, respectively. He was with Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY from 2006 to 2010, and with Manufacturing Systems Research Lab, General Motors Research & Development Center, Warren, MI from 2000 to 2006. He is now a Professor in Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

  His primary research interests are in design, analysis, improvement and control of production and healthcare delivery systems. His research has been supported by NSF, DOE, NIST, PCORI, industry and healthcare organizations.
