On December 17,2020, [Mingli Lecture Hall, 2020] was lucky to invite Professor Jiang Zhengrui, Department of Marketing and E-Commerce, Nanjing University Business School to bring you an academic report entitled "Predicting Time to Upgrade for Successive Product Generations: An Exponential-Decay Proportional Hazard Model", in the form of online broadcast of Tencent Conference.Some teachers and studentsof the School of Management and Economics, attended the lecture. The host was Professor Li Guo from the Department of Technical Economy and Strategic Management of the School of Management and Economics.

In the report, Professor Jiang Zhengrui first took the working software Microsoft Office and online game NBA 2K Online as an example to introduce the importance of software product update iteration and the selection strategy of new version release time, thus leading to the research content of this report.The study, starting from the actual change mode of online sports game products, predicts the timing of users using an updated version by constructing an exponential attenuation proportional risk model (Expo-Decay model).To study table names, the Expo-Decay model presented herein is better predictive compared to traditional models such as Erlang-2, Weibull.In addition, the research results also give management implications for product update decision-making and customer behavior prediction.The report aroused great interest from teachers and students, and launched a heated discussion and exchange, with a warm response, which was well received by the majority of teachers and students!

Professor Jiang Zhengrui is a professor, second-class professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of marketing and e-commerce of Nanjing University Business School.He was Professor of Information Systems and Business Analysis and Tommy Lecture at Iowa State University before joining NTU in 2019.The main research areas are business intelligence and big data analysis, his research feature is the effective integration of computer science research and management research, he has made important contributions in the direction of business data analysis, machine learning, decision support, and the diffusion of scientific and technological innovation.
