On the afternoon of April 18, 2023 at 15:30, Associate Professor Huang Yufei from the School of Business at Trinity University Dublin was invited to give an academic presentation titled "The Impact of Consumer Complaint Relief and Variety on Product Recalls: An Imperial Investment of the Automotive Industry Using Text Mining" in Conference Room 317 of the main building. Associate Professor Huang Yufei shared the latest research on the impact of the relevance and diversity of consumer complaints on Product recall decision-making time in the report. The study uses the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) vehicle recall data set to analyze the content of consumer complaints in the process of vehicle recall, especially the description of defects, through Text mining, to measure the relevance and diversity of consumer complaints, and further discusses how the relevance and diversity of consumer complaints affect the recall decision time.
The research results found that when the correlation level of consumer complaints is high, recall decisions are faster; The more types of consumer complaints, the slower the recall decision. Finally, Associate Professor Huang Yufei conducted research on the strategic recall issue under the tripartite game model of government, enterprises, and consumers.
After the report, the attending teachers and students had in-depth discussions with Associate Professor Huang Yufei on issues such as model establishment, variable selection, and research prospects, which were greatly inspired. Huang Yufei is an associate professor and EMBA project leader at the School of Business at Trinity University in Dublin.
