On the morning of December 23, [Mingli Lecture Hall, Issue 63, 2022], it was fortunate to invite Zhang Long, associate professor of Hunan University, to bring an academic report entitled "Qualitative research in the field of organizational management". The report was presided over by Wang Ying from the Department of Organization and Human Resources Management, School of Management and Economics, Beijing University of Technology. The report was held online and attracted more than 30 teachers and students.
In the report, Associate Professor Zhang Long first introduced what qualitative research is. Secondly, Professor Zhang analyzed why qualitative research should be done, that is, the advantages of qualitative research in the field of organizational management. In addition, Professor Zhang also stressed when qualitative research should be used. Finally, Professor Zhang introduced several methods of qualitative research and the precautions in the research process, such as paying close attention to the distance with the interviewees, paying attention to and respecting different voices, and gave some constructive strategic suggestions.
After the report, Associate Professor Zhang Long and the participating teachers and students had in-depth exchanges and discussions on issues related to qualitative research in the field of organization and management. The teachers and students attending the meeting said that they benefited a lot from the report and hoped that they would have the opportunity to have further communication and learning with Professor Zhang offline after the epidemic ended.
