【Mingli Lecture 2023, Issue 12】Researcher Wang Daoping from Cambridge University is invited to give an academic report

At the invitation of the School of Management and Economics, Dr. Wang Daoping, a young researcher in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, gave an academic report online at 7:30 pm on April 4, 2023, titled "International Supply Chain Benefit Sharing Mechanism for Promoting Equitable Distribution of Vaccines globally". The lecture was hosted by Professor Li Hao, and many teachers and students from the college participated in the lecture.

At the beginning of the report, Wang Daoping first revealed the inequality of global vaccine distribution in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in the past three years through geographic information technology, Scenario analysis and other methods. Many low-income countries have a vaccine coverage rate of only about 10% during the pandemic, which seriously weakens the role of vaccines in human society's fight against the pandemic. Although balanced distribution has led to higher overall economic benefits globally, there are still difficulties in achieving a more balanced vaccine distribution plan. How to promote global cooperation in such major public health crises is also an urgent issue to be solved.In response to the above issues, Wang Daoping explained from the perspective of international supply chain correlation research. By linking epidemiological models and disaster footprint analysis models, he quantified the socio-economic benefits of various COVID-19 vaccine distribution plans: health benefits (saved lives through vaccination), blockade relaxation effects, and supply chain reconstruction benefits. The research results reveal the importance of fair distribution of vaccines in controlling global epidemics, supporting economic recovery, and rebuilding supply chains.Finally, Wang Daoping summarized the application of the international supply chain benefit sharing mechanism to promote the fair distribution of vaccines globally in management, and proposed that in order to promote global international cooperation, a benefit sharing mechanism needs to be developed to eliminate unfavorable factors for fair distribution of vaccines. The study provides new insights into improving the fairness and accessibility of global vaccines from the perspective of the value chain.
