In order to further standardize and strengthen the process management of international graduate student training and improve the quality of graduate student training in an all-round way, these measures are formulated to guide the implementation of academic activities, practicum activities, literature review and thesis proposal, and mid-term assessment in the course of graduate student training.
Academic activities
Basic requirements
Graduate students should attend academic conferences, academic forums, etc., not less than 6 times, including not less than 1 participation in domestic and foreign academic meetings.
Doctoral graduate students should attend academic conferences, academic forums, etc., not less than 10 times, of which not less than 2 academic conferences in the field of study, and not less than 1 oral report at academic conferences.
Each academic activity should have a summary not less than 500 words (Chinese)/ (English), and an academic activities assessment.
Completion time
The assessment of academic activities of graduate students should be completed before the thesis review.
The assessment of academic activities of doctoral graduate students should be completed before the thesis pre-defense.
Organization and assessment
Graduate academic activities should be carried out under the guidance of the tutor; the tutor should be responsible for the assessment; the School is responsible for the audit.
The assessment is assessed by passed and not passed. If the result is "not passed ", a student shall not apply for the defense of graduation thesis.

Practicum activities
1 Basic requirements
The practical activities of international graduate students are scientific research practice or teaching practice. The scientific and technological practice of international graduate students includes all kinds of scientific and technological competition activities, innovation activities, teaching practice including teaching assistants and so on.
The practical activities of graduate students should be carried out around a clear theme, with detailed contents and records, and a summary of not less than 2000 words (Chinese)/ (English) should be submitted for assessment.
2 Completion time
The assessment of practical activities of graduate students should be completed before the thesis review.
The assessment of practical activities of doctoral graduate students should be completed before the thesis pre-defense.
3 Organization and assessment
The practical activities of graduate students should be carried out under the guidance of the tutor; the scientific and technological practice or teaching practice should be assessed by the tutor; the School should be responsible for organizing the assessment, and the humanities and social practice should be organized and assessed by the School.
The assessment is assessed by passed and not passed. If the result is "not passed", a student shall not apply for the defense of graduation thesis.

Thesis Proposal and Literature Review
1 Basic requirements
Graduate students should read at least 50 articles in this research field, understand and study the frontier and research progress in this field;
Doctoral students should read at least 80 articles in this research field, and analyze and comment on the research field, research direction, domestic and foreign research status and trends of this subject;
Write literature review report, for graduate students not less than 5000 words (Chinese)/ (English), and for doctoral student not less than 6000 words (Chinese)/ (English);
Combined with the selected research topics, there is a clear research direction, a deep understanding of the research topics, existing problems and ideas and methods of solutions to the problems, possible innovations and achievements, and to form a thesis proposal.
2 Completion time
For graduate students, the proposal and literature review defense should be completed before the first week of the third semester;
For doctoral graduate students, the proposal and literature review defense should be completed before the first week of the fifth semester.
3 Organization and assessment
The proposal and literature review should be carried out under the guidance of the tutor; the tutor is responsible for organizing the assessment; the School is responsible for the audit.
The assessment is assessed by "passed" and "re-assessed". If the result is "re-assessed", a student has to participate in the thesis proposal defense again at least half a year later. If the result is still “not passed”, a drop-out processing shall be initiated.

IV Midterm Assessment (doctoral students only)
1 Basic requirements
After completing the course study, thesis proposal and literature review, the students have made some progress in academic and practical activities, and obtained certain academic research or scientific research practice results.
2 Completion time
The mid-term assessment of doctoral students should be completed before the first week of the seventh semester;
3 Organization and assessment
The tutor shall be responsible for the assessment and the School shall be responsible for the audit.
The assessment is assessed by passed and not passed. If the result is "not passed", a student shall not apply for the defense of graduation thesis.

V Coursework and thesis-related work
Course learning and credit requirements can be found in the training program of various disciplines. For the thesis pre-defense, thesis defense, degree award and other specific requirements, please refer to "Beijing Institute of Technology doctoral thesis pre-defense rules" and "Beijing Institute of Technology degree award work rules ".
VI Other
Each school and graduate student training unit shall formulate the specific implementation rules according to the specific situation. The graduate school shall be responsible for the interpretation of these measures.
