報告人簡介：
涂善東，1988年于南京化工學院獲工學博士學位，教育部“長江學者獎勵計劃”特聘教授(2001)，國家杰出青年基金獲得者(2002)，現任華東理工大學教授、科協主席。
兼任諾丁漢大學名譽教授、國際壓力容器學會亞大地區主席、中國機械工程學會材料學會名譽理事長、壓力容器學會名譽理事長； Applied Energy、化工進展等期刊副主編, Int J Pressure Vessels & Piping, J of Materials Science & Technology、Fatigue and Fracture of Engineering Materials and Structures、壓力容器、應用基礎與工程科學學報等期刊編委。
主要研究興趣包括：能源材料與裝備技術、結構完整性理論。對高溫化工與能源裝備的創制及工業失效預防做出過重要貢獻。發表論文300余篇，他引6000余次，曾獲國家科技進步一等獎、國家科技進步二等獎和國家發明二等獎，并獲第二屆中國青年科技獎以及ASME最佳論文獎等獎勵。
報告內容簡介：
The lecture will introduce the fundamental elements that enabled the application of energy systems by a historical review of the use of steam energy which trigged the industrial revolution. The interaction between science and technology, technology and society and politics will be discussed. A case study on the commercialization of ECUST coal gasification technology will also be given. Strategies that may speed up energy technology transfer will be recommended.
