講座題目：Energy Commodity Futures, Country Risk, and Financial Uncertainty

講座內(nèi)容簡介：Using an innovative instrumental variable quantile regression technique, this paper assesses whether and how country risk and financial uncertainty exert an impact on energy commodity futures prices (crude oil, heating oil, and natural gas) under different commodity conditional return distributions over the period from January 1994 to July 2017. To gain further insights into this issue, we also discuss whether the correlations change with different dimensions of country risk, i.e., economic, financial, and political, which extant studies have ignored. The results reveal that country risk and financial stress do have a significant impact on energy commodity returns of futures contracts with different maturities, but their direction, intensity, and significance differ, caused by the distinct market situations and divergent channels of country risk. These factors are useful indicators for forecasting future returns in financial and commodity markets and can help evaluate and implement trading activities, hedging strategies, and portfolio construction. These results are important for policy makers who should be cautious when formulating a strategy for macroeconomic stability
主講人簡介：李建強，臺灣中山大學(xué)財務(wù)管理學(xué)系專任教授，研究領(lǐng)域為能源經(jīng)濟(jì)、經(jīng)濟(jì)增長、金融市場與機構(gòu)、應(yīng)用計量。李教授擔(dān)任多本國際學(xué)術(shù)期刊的編輯群，包括Energy Economics副主編、Energy Journal 國際編輯及Business and Economics Journal主編等。李教授取得了多項學(xué)術(shù)榮譽：Marquis Who's Who, Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award、山西省百人計劃高層次人才、美國德州大學(xué)圣安東尼奧分校訪問學(xué)者、科技部優(yōu)秀年輕學(xué)者研究計劃、《Marquis Who’s Who in the World (2016)》世界名人錄 、收錄呂鳳章先生紀(jì)念獎?wù)?中華民國管理科學(xué)學(xué)會)、科技部獎勵特殊優(yōu)秀人才、依據(jù) Ecological Economics 調(diào)查結(jié)果，名列 21 世紀(jì)環(huán)境資源及生態(tài)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)作者排名第 1 (共調(diào)查 6597 篇論文)，IDEAS登錄學(xué)者，名列臺灣經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)者top 5%。李教授在著名國際期刊上發(fā)表了多篇高質(zhì)量的論文：包括刊登在財務(wù)及經(jīng)濟(jì)類 A Tier1期刊：Journal of Money, Credit and Banking，刊登在財務(wù)類 A 級期刊：Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Financial Services Research，Quantitative Finance, The Geneva Risk and Insurance Review, The European Journal of Finance等，發(fā)表在經(jīng)濟(jì)類 A級期刊為 Macroeconomic Dynamics等，能源類期刊包括Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Resource and Energy Economics, Energy Policy等，共發(fā)表超過150篇以上SSCI國際學(xué)術(shù)期刊。
